Overview

South China University of Technology (SCUT) is one of China’s leading universities, and one of the national 211 and 985 project universities directly under the Ministry of Education in China. Since its establishment in 1952, SCUT has developed into a major comprehensive university with leading disciplines in science and engineering, meanwhile SCUT offers multiple disciplines of study including science, engineering, business, management, liberal arts, law, bio-medical science, and art design. SCUT is composed of 32 schools, and it ranks 17th in the academic ranking of all universities in China and its engineering discipline ranks 22″d in the discipline ranking of the world. SCUT locates in Guangzhou which is very close to Hong Kong and Macau. It has three campuses: the Wushan campus, the University Town campus, and the Guangzhou International campus.

Requirements

Undergraduate:

• Passport copy (first page)
• High school diploma and transcripts
• TOEFL IBT 68/ IELTS 5.5 above for English medium program; for bilingual program, except English certificate, HSK Band 4 with 180 scores (Science or Engineering studies) and HSK Band 5 with 180 scores (Management Studies) is required.
• Two recommendation letters
• The Foreigner Physical Examination Form
• Applicants, who apply for Civil Engineering (Bilingual) or Materials Engineering (Bilingual) with conditional offers, should attend the math and English test held by professional schools.

Master:

• Passport copy (first page)
• Bachelor’s degree diploma and transcripts
• TOEFL IBT 80/ IELTS 6.0 above for English medium program
• A pre-acceptance letter signed by SCUT professors or associate professors
• A study or research plan written in Chinese/English (1000 words minimum)
• Two recommendation letters
• The Foreigner Physical Examination Form

Ph.D:

• Passport copy (first page)
• Master’s degree diploma and transcripts
• TOEFL IBT 80/ IELTS 6.0 above for English medium program; for bilingual program, except English certificate, HSK Band 4 with 180 scores is required.
• A pre-acceptance letter signed by SCUT professors or associate professors
• A study or research plan written in Chinese/English (1000 words minimum)
• Abstract(s) of graduation thesis(es) or published paper(s)
• Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors
